"I was delighted that they all learnt to project their voices. One pupil didn’t want to say one line in our class assembly at the start of term, but was desperate to be Prince Escalus. I gave him the chance and he absolutely surpassed himself and amazed me with his confidence. He has just read in church at our carol service with the same confidence and aplomb!"
"warm, welcoming and super organised"
"(my) knowledge of drama techniques had increased and I'm already full of ideas for next year's project."
"the children liked the varied nature of the day and found the clothing demonstration interesting"
"if you need a new subject, just choose Shakespeare"
"I can’t wait to do it again!"
"thank you for a valuable experience which I’m sure all our Year 6 pupils will remember as a highlight of their final year at Primary School"
"A phenomenal experience. The children were totally engaged in their learning and hearing my children speak with clarity made me feel so proud – some children you would never dream of hearing especially in front of an audience"
Shakespeare - As YOU Like It celebrates Shakespeare through drama in primary schools, bringing the Bard to life through research,
improvisation and professionally led workshops, and culminating in a performance on the stage of the Courtyard Theatre at the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts.
All as part of the mainstream work in English & Literacy for Years 5/6 during the autumn term.
It started in 2000, but since 2010, the project has been organised by Troublemaker Theatre Company, in association with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
